PROJECT SUMMARY

Crisafulli: No-till equipment

SITE SUMMARY

Deer Run Farm operates on 1,000 acres of hay fields. Approximately 250 acres are double-cropped with winter rye and sorghum before going into new hay fields each year.

OPERATION TYPE

Cropland

SITE FOCUS

Equipment

SITE RESOURCE CONCERN

As no-till equipment is used over 250 acres, twice each year, the double disk openers on the no-till drill become dull and cover crop seed germination and uniformity is reduced. This reduces the potential for soil health conditions.
