About The Event
Come learn about farmer Brad Burke’s SARE grant research project to assess various methods of on farm leaf composting and the impact of composted leaves on germination of a rye cover crop. The trials hope to determine which composting methods yield the highest quality leaf compost with the least inputs of labor and equipment time. Discussion will include methods to assess leaf compost products for properties such as particle size and maturity, and suitability for field applications for cash and cover crops.
An optional farm tour of Longmeadow Farm will follow.
In the event of bad weather, we will notify guests in advance and reschedule the event for Tues. Oct. 29th from 3-5:30pm. Please mark the date on your calendars.
We'll have some water and beverages on hand but to save on plastic, please bring your water bottle if you have one!
Where applicable, carpooling is encouraged to accomodate for parking and allow for more people to attend.
Stay tuned for more details!
