Agricultural Conservation Planning Tool

Updated: Mar 7, 2019

Streamline and Simplify your Agricultural Data Collection

North Jersey RC&D is excited to unveil the newly completed Agricultural Conservation Planning Tool. This easy to use form and spreadsheet is designed to help staff, with a wide range of experience levels, collect and organize information from on-farm discussions regarding conservation needs.

HIGHLIGHTS

For staff without agricultural conservation training, the tool poses questions that engage farmers in a way that is friendly and approachable.  It will collect basic information about their agricultural operation, goals, resource conditions and concerns, and conservation options.  An accompanying spreadsheet guides staff through learning about and recommending appropriate conservation practices.  This information can then be presented to experienced specialists in order to streamline BMP implementation.

For organizations who work with many agricultural producers, the tool provides a means for experienced agricultural conservation professionals to simplify and organize records of their conversations with farmers. This tool organizes information in a spreadsheet that can be

easily sorted and searched.

Two different forms are available.  A long version includes descriptions of common practices and terms and is designed for users with only a basic knowledge of agricultural production.  A shorter version is available for experienced agricultural service providers wanting an easy system to record conversations with farmers.

Thank you to conservation partners who participated in the winter roundtable discussions aimed at improving and refining the tool.   Your feedback was invaluable!  This project is funded by a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) Delaware River Restoration Fund and the William Penn Foundation through the Delaware River Watershed Initiative.

Thank you!
